Associate Social Media Editor (Weekends), Us Weekly

Reports To: Director, Social Media

Rate: $35/hr

Part Time: This is a remote, part-time position. Desired hours are 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. ET (Friday) and 9a.m. ET- 5 p.m on Saturday & Sunday.

Outside of being one of the most successful publishers at newsstand, our brands are rapidly growing across digital channels, reaching more than 42MM+ unique views each month and 27MM+ social media fans through high-quality content.

Join the a360media social team! We are seeking a part-time weekend social editor to support Us Weekly. This role is responsible for programming and creating content distributed to key social platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the daily output of Us Weekly content to Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and X to drive traffic back to the site.

  • Work with Social Media Director to engage and grow audiences across social platforms. Create original content and source UGC content to drive engagement & conversation.

  • Assist with community management to drive authentic interactions, maintain brand image, and tone across all social platforms.

  • Identify trending and viral news to support driving sessions through social platforms. Leverage insights to create clever angles and shareable headlines.

  • Support content distribution strategies through promotion tactics including repromotion and recycling top posts across platforms.

  • Implement new social media tactics and tests.

  • Assists with major initiatives as well as day-to-day news operations, video, social takeovers, cover rollouts, and more.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 2+ years of experience in media and/or publishing.

  • Must be obsessed with entertainment and celebrity news. Pop culture expert fluent in what's trending and always plugged in to latest conversations.

  • Demonstrable experience identifying shareable and viral content for a sizeable social media account.

  • Excellent writing skills, strong command of AP style, and a sharp wit. Able to quickly craft social copy, headlines, and pop culturally relevant captions.

  • Ability to abide by and enforce Us Weekly brand guidelines.

  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and trends. Basic understanding of the native tools and insights.

  • Experience with social publishing software such as True Anthem/ Social Flow/Dash Hudson.

  • Comfortable with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
